Android Pie Would be Used on Nokia’s 2 new Phones

Nokia

HMD Global is all set to schedule an event for the February 24 in Barcelona wherein the company is being expected to launch their Nokia 9 PureView flagship. Apart from this high-end offering, it looks like Nokia is also geared up to launch a new entry-level smartphone which will take the form of the Nokia 1 Plus. An alleged render of the to-be-launched smartphone was leaked along with its specifications, that revealed that the smartphone would have entry-level hardware like paltry 1GB of RAM, a MediaTek SoC as well as a low-resolution display. On the positive side, the Nokia 1 Plus will apparently boot Android 9 Pie and is expected to be run on the Android 9 Pie (Go edition).

The newest Nokia 1 Plus leak came from TigerMobiles and it included an alleged render of the new smartphone along with its key specifications. The render suggested that Nokia’s new smartphone will have a single front-facing camera and it will come with thick bezels, and this doesn’t come as a surprise since the smartphone is an entry-level product. On the software side, HMD Global’s affordable product will run on the Android Pie out-of-the-box, but no details regarding whether or not it would have a Go edition has been revealed.

With regards to the internal hardware, the Nokia 1 Plus will come with a display resolution of 480×960 pixels, an aspect ratio of 18:9, and a screen density of 213ppi. But the size of the display hasn’t been revealed as of now. The leaks suggested that the upcoming Nokia-branded smartphone will power using a quad-core MediaTek MT6739WW SoC that would be clocked at 1.5 GHz with a PowerVR GE8100 GPU ticking alongside.

The Nokia 1 Plus will also feature 1GB of RAM but the internal storage capacity and the expandables (if any) haven’t been revealed as of now. In the camera department, the leak didn’t provide any information regarding the megapixel count. In terms of connectivity, the Nokia 1 Plus will support dual SIM (Nano), GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, along with a Micro-USB port.  Sensor selection will be the same as that of Nokia 1. But the details regarding the Nokia 1 Plus’ pricing and the expected launch timeline haven’t been revealed.
